Dethrone the champs, send a message.

The Indians have a chance to do something remarkable in taking down the defending World Series Champions. Obviously, it won’t be easy. But if they are able to take down the Astros, the Indians will send a message to the rest of the MLB that they are for real, and not just a product of a lousy division.

Prediction: Indians win in 5

Steven and I discussed this on our most recent podcast (shameless plug). But I believe the Indians will take this in five games. It will be hard to sweep Houston, and even harder to win in their home stadium. But this isn’t the same team that faced the Astros earlier in the season. The Indians have refined their bullpen and made great leaps to ensure that they can hang with the best this year. They showed that against the Yankees in Cleveland, and against the Red Sox by taking them down in the season series.

Obviously, the worst case scenario is that the Indians lose and their season is over. There is no point in taking the time to write that out. (But Carson, you just did) NO. We will not speak that scenario into existence. The Indians will have to play their best ball to advance to the ALCS.
