A recent Cut4 article went through the weirdest moments for every MLB team in 2018. The choice for the Cleveland Indians certainly fit the criteria.
The Cleveland Indians begin postseason play a week from today. Praise Jobu!
The end of the regular season has led to a lot of indifference toward these final few games, but this is also a time to look back on what has been a successful regular season.
Michael Clair of Cut4 wrote an article in which he went through every MLB team to find the weirdest moments from the 2018 season.
His choice for the Indians was the scenario in which Trevor Bauer was called “Tyler” by members of the Houston Astros after he called that pitching staff out for potentially using illegal substances on baseballs.
Bauer took the name in stride and even taped it on the back of his jersey when the team was in Houston. That is LeBron James level petty right there. I like it.
I can’t think of many other things that happened this season that would qualify as weird moments. That isn’t necessarily a bad thing.
The Indians season has been so casual that even the lulls weren’t enough to make the division race competitive at all. Remember when the Detroit Tigers were supposedly in contention? Or the Minnesota Twins?
The only weird thing to me is seeing Edwin Encarnacion and Josh Donaldson go back-to-back in Indians uniforms. I feel like there was a glitch in the matrix between 2016 and 2018. Although I’ll gladly stay in this reality of having two dominant power hitters in the lineup. Sorry, Toronto.
The season is long and at times it is easy to forget about certain crazy things that happened. What weird moments from the season stand out to you, if any?
