The Cleveland Indians easily defeated the Kansas City Royals in a game that showed what should be happening against such lowly opponents.
The Cleveland Indians picked up an easy win over the Kansas City Royals on Tuesday. Just like they were supposed to.
For some reason the Indians are only 9-5 against the 46-92 Royals this season. It is wrong to expect them to win every single time against Kansas City, but there is no reason for the struggles fans have seen. Such as the one-run performance on Monday night.
It’s all part of the slow grind of the regular season.
The Indians jumped out to a 6-0 lead on Tuesday and coasted to an easy victory. Fans got to see some recent call-ups and the general vibe was casual. Fitting with Mike Clevinger on the mound. He went six innings of one-run baseball to pick up his 11th win of the season.
Dare I say, this game was boring?
Boring in a good way. Just like most of this Indians season. The Indians now own a 15-game lead in the AL Central and are set to clinch the division in a week or two.
Dustin Fox of 92.3 The Fan suggested that the players themselves might be bored. It is hard to argue with that point. Getting in a playoff mindset when taking on this version of the Royals is hard to do. That doesn’t make Monday’s loss any more fun to watch, but the energy would be much different if the game was in October.
The two teams are back in action this afternoon. Win or lose, not much will change.
The main story to focus on now revolves around Jason Kipnis and where he will end up playing in the postseason, if he does at all. The same goes for Josh Donaldson, although it’s where and not if with him.
Tuesday’s win was a nice chance for Indians fans to take in a stress-free game. The same will hopefully be true today. Because now that the division is locked up and the team appears set to end up as the No. 3 seed in the American League, there is no need for any problems to be created.
Just stay healthy!
