The Cleveland Indians got off to a hot start but ultimately fell flat in a 8-4 loss to the Toronto Blue Jays on Friday night.

Cleveland Indians fans were having a fun time through the first three innings of Friday night’s game.

The weather was perfect and the team jumped out to a 4-0 lead. Then came the top of the fourth when Mike Clevinger allowed four runs in what ended up being a 8-4 loss to the Toronto Blue Jays.

It’s Friday night, the weather is nice, so let’s take a quick look at some takeaways from the loss.

The dominance comes to an end

The starting rotation couldn’t throw gems every night.

Clevinger had a human outing on Friday, logging only four innings and allowing four runs. He did strike out five, but his two walks in the top of the fourth ended up being a problem as both runners came around to score.

This was the first game since April 3 in which the Indians allowed more than three runs to an opponent, which is simply unsustainable. Games against the Tigers and Royals spoiled us all.

The good news is that Clevinger will be fine and the pitching staff is still one of the best in the league.

Jose keeps his streak alive

Jose Ramirez only had one hit in the loss, but it did extend his hitting streak to five games. That boosts his average to the impressive mark of .160 on the year. It was below .100 until recently, so we will consider this progress.

The only problem with Jose’s hit is that the play ended with Francisco Lindor getting thrown out at home by mere inches. If only the oven mitt he wore was a few inches longer.

Watching the weather

The Indians have been lucky with the weather so far this homestand, if you don’t mind freezing temperatures, but some storms may be rolling through this weekend. The players may not mind the day off, but it is good to keep in mind when planning out a potential trip to a game.

Nothing is worse than driving downtown and realizing the game is cancelled.
