The sad news came out on Wednesday that Oscar Gamble passed away. He didn’t spend much time with the Cleveland Indians, but he certainly made his mark.

Several generations of Cleveland Indians fans may not know the name Oscar Gamble. But for those who do remember him, he brought some fun to an Indians team that didn’t see much success in the 1970s.

Gamble passed away on Wednesday at the age of 68.

Gamble only spent three years with the Indians, compiling a slash line of .274/.352/.463 in that span. He hit at least 15 home runs in each of his three seasons.

The bulk of his career was spent with the New York Yankees, but he played on seven total teams during his 17-year career.

Gamble was not a superstar by any means but his passing reminds fans of the player with one of the most unique looks in baseball history. Regardless, this is sad news and we wish his family all the best.

The lull of January is finally over and it is time for some actual Indians baseball in February. It may just be camp and some exhibitions, but it is enough to end all the angst that a slow offseason brings.
