Cleveland Indians: Danny Salazar remains on the trading block

The Cleveland Indians are having a quiet offseason, but one player could be moved in a trade before the season gets underway.

While the streets and sidewalks continue to freeze over, so does the hot stove as Cleveland Indians fans are patiently awaiting a big offseason move that likely won’t come.

Yonder Alonso is probably the major addition this offseason, and that makes sense given the talent already in town.

But while fans remain hopeful for more additions, a subtraction may be in store as Ken Rosenthal recently reported that the Indians are still willing to move Danny Salazar.

This isn’t exactly new or breaking news, as Salazar’s name has been brought up several times this offseason. However, it is noteworthy and means the front office isn’t done just yet.

But Salazar being on the trading block doesn’t mean the Indians are going to get rid of him for cheap, such as what the Miami Marlins are currently doing, and it may just mean that the team is open to offers, which should be the case when it comes to every player on the roster.

Salazar is an interesting case because he has shown the ability to be a dominant starter, and a team may even want to transition him into being a force in the bullpen. The problem is a history of injuries, but taking a chance on a proven player and hoping for the best is never a bad strategy.

I’m not so sure the Indians are ready to move on from Salazar just yet, but even if that remains true his name could come up once again around the trade deadline if both Mike Clevinger and Josh Tomlin prove to be good enough to fill out a rotation also featuring Corey Kluber, Carlos Carrasco and Trevor Bauer.
