The Cleveland Indians didn’t have a great week, but still end up in the top ten of the latest edition of FanSided’s MLB power rankings.
Cleveland Indians fans aren’t happy with the recent two-game series against the Colorado Rockies, but the good news is that the team is still fighting atop the American League Central.
The Indians enter play tonight with a record of 29-28 and are set to take on the struggling Chicago White Sox on a night when downtown Cleveland will be packed. Hopefully the Indians and the Cavaliers can give fans something to be excited about.
Even though the Indians aren’t playing great baseball, the team is still considered among the best teams in the league. That was evident in the most recent edition of FanSided’s MLB power rankings, where the Indians ended up in the No. 10 spot.
From the article:
"After struggling for over two months, Danny Salazar has landed on the disabled list with a shoulder injury. Salazar’s results on the mound this season were not matching his overwhelming stuff. Despite an astronomical 12.6 strikeouts per nine, the right-hander had a 5.40 ERA and had given up 11 home runs."
"The effective starting pitching that helped carry the Indians to the World Series last season has not materialized yet this year. The Indians still have a potent offense and lights-out bullpen. Now, they just need Josh Tomlin and Trevor Bauer to pitch effectively."
While the offense hasn’t been great, the team’s postseason chances will ultimately come down to how well the starting pitching performs moving forward. Because even though the offense may only put up two or three runs per game, the starters must be able to hold leads given to them.

This weekend’s series against the White Sox will give fans a good gauge of how the Indians respond to adversity. The two-game series in Colorado was an embarrassment, and the team now has a chance to show the home fans that the atrocious road trip is behind them.
