Taking a look at the news surrounding the Cleveland Indians and the rest of the MLB on the morning of September 21, 2016.

The Cleveland Indians had Progressive Field rocking Tuesday night as Brandon Guyer sent the fans home happy with a walk-off hit in the bottom of the ninth. The win maintains the Indians’ seven-game lead over the Detroit Tigers, with the magic number to clinch the division now at six.

The walk-off finish was great, but the best performance of this game came from Josh Tomlin. He went 6 2/3 innings, allowing one run on five hits, and once again did not allow a home run. Tomlin is going to be a key player for the Indians in the playoffs, so it is great to see him back at his old form.

The Indians are back at it tonight against the Kansas City Royals, once again looking to get that magic number closer to zero. Before the fun begins, let’s take a look at the news surrounding the Indians and the rest of the MLB in today’s edition of A.M. Wahoo’s.

Cleveland Indians News:

Cleveland Indians Considering Hybrid Starting Rotation for the Playoffs

"With just under two weeks remaining in the regular season, the Cleveland Indians are closing in on the club’s first American League Central Division title since 2007, and find themselves in the final push for playoff positioning. But the injury bug has continued to provide challenges for the Tribe, as Carlos Carrasco was the latest player to be lost."

Could Corey Kluber be the Tribe’s Version of Madison Bumgarner in the Playoffs?

"Corey Kluber has been an animal for the Indians this year. A bonafide Cy Young candidate, Kluber has gone 17-9 with a 3.12 ERA, 215 strikeouts, and league-leading marks in ERA+ (153) and FIP (3.25) in 2016, but his biggest challenge lies front of him."

Cleveland Indians Look to Shrink Magic Number and Knock Out Defending Champs

"It’s an old adage in sports that, while reaching the top of the mountain and winning a championship is tough, getting back is even tougher. The Kansas City Royals, who come to town to start a three-game series with the Cleveland Indians on Tuesday night, are finding out just how true that axiom is."

Trevor Bauer Apologizes to Tigers (Call to the Pen)

"Cleveland Indians starter Trevor Bauer hit Victor Martinez, Miguel Cabrera, and Ian Kinsler. It was a complete accident and visibly shook Bauer up. For those few Tigers fans that believe that it is no coincidence that three of their best players were hit there is a very simple explanation."

Tribe Hoping Salazar Can Join ‘Pen for Playoffs (indians.com)

"There is not enough time for Danny Salazar to return as a starter for the Indians should they punch their ticket to the postseason. The hard-throwing right-hander could potentially offer Cleveland an intriguing option out of the bullpen."

Los Angeles Dodgers unveil #DontLookAtMe t-shirts on Twitter (FanSided)

"The Los Angeles Dodgers have just unlocked a new level in world class baseball trolling. With the help of some uber-fast t-shirt making company, the team has clapped back in a big way to Madison Bumgarner’s four-word provocation to Yasiel Puig during Monday night’s game."

Ned Yost Blunder Lets Indians Walk Off With 2-1 Win (Kings of Kauffman)

"The Kansas City Royals fell to 77-74 with their 2-1 walk-off loss Tuesday night. KC remain 5.0 games behind Baltimore for the AL’s second wild card. All I can say is, “Why, Ned, why?” For some reason, Kansas City manager Ned Yost tapped Joakim Soria to pitch in a tied game in the ninth inning with two men on and one out."

Ortiz Breaks Record for Most Final-Season Home Runs (ESPN.com)

"Just in case it wasn’t already clear that David Ortiz is having the best farewell season in baseball history, the 40-year-old Boston Red Sox slugger applied a statistical exclamation mark Tuesday night."
