The Cleveland Indians made their first batch of moves in Spring Training; Could Jose Ramirez be the Opening Day centerfielder?
The Cleveland Indians didn’t waste too much time cleaning up camp as they made their first round of moves in Spring Training. Of the moves made, Zach Walters seemed to be the only one that had a legitimate shot of making the roster. He’s been sent to Columbus along with several other players to get their year started.
Should Jose Ramirez get the opportunity to start in center field? With the absence of Abraham Almonte and Michael Brantley it appears he could get a chance to prove he can do it at least. Our Matt Bretz has been keen on the idea for a while and believes he should be one of the options Terry Francona looks at this spring.
Our Jeff Mount has been in Goodyear for a week and has gotten to see many of the sights and sounds of Indians camp. One thing that he noticed while he was there was failure. No, not like your thinking. With so many players in camp, the realization that many won’t ever get a chance to play in the majors is a tough one to swallow. But it’s much of what Spring Training is about.
