Clevelinks: Cleveland Indians Fall Again, Offense Still Scuffling

Kluber stumbles, but starting pitching still a beacon of hope

The low-scoring affair that most thought the matchup between the Cleveland Indians

Corey Kluber

and the White Sox

Jeff Samardzija

would be was a bit one-sided, as the Tribe dropped the final game of the series 6-0. Kluber struggled, allowing six runs on 13 hits in 6+ innings. His effort, while not his best would be irrelevant as once again the Indians failed to provide him any support. In four starts, the Tribe have scored a total of five runs for Kluber.

Kluber’s struggles from yesterday aside, the pitching has been one of the few beacons of hope early this season.  Trevor Bauer has been downright masterful, Kluber has again been solid (but gotten no support), Danny Salazar returned with a solid outing upon return, and a line drive to the jaw can’t stop Carlos Carrasco. The last spot in the rotation is a bit shaky, but the staff provides hope this team can turn it around.

Barry Bonds has been cleared of his obstruction conviction 11 1/2 years later. Convicted in 20122, and later upheld in court in 2013–Bonds has been fighting ever since. Now an 11-judge 9th circuit panel has thrown out the conviction, saying while his testimony was “non-responsive”, it didn’t warrant the conviction. While the reversal is a win for Bonds, the public’s perception of him won’t change with this on his use of PEDs and his home run record.
