Battle for last roster spot; Players read Mean Tweets
With another round of cuts out of the way, the Cleveland Indians have one roster spot remaining and three likely candidates to battle it out. Who stay will depend on a few factors, including how many pitchers Francona decides to carry, as well as perceived depth at certain positions. But with time running out, the chances to prove themselves are running out for these last three.
Our Wahoo’s on the Mic “Rivals” series closes out with the Detroit Tigers. Our Merritt Rohlfing sits down with Dave Holcomb of FanSided’s Motor City Bengals and talks pitching, are the stars healthy? Can the Tribe keep them from a fifth straight division title?
If you’re familiar with “Mean Tweets”, you’ll love this. The Indians did their own version, and it was priceless. If you’re unfamiliar with the bit, it originated on Jimmy Kimmel Live, where “famous” people read meant tweets that people have written about them. The Tribe’s rendition won’t let you down. A must watch.
The Boston Red Sox were forced to make a late move in camp, as projected backup catcher Christian Vasquez was moved to the 60-day DL, and may need Tommy John surgery. So the Red Sox traded for Sandy Leon, who will now compete with Humberto Quintero for the backup catcher spot, whilee it appears Ryan Hanigan will have the starter spot locked up.
