2.  Trade David Murphy for Something of Value

Murphy was signed in hopes of a rebound campaign after a down year in 2013.  Cleveland saw his upside through the first two months of the season,  but he lost his spark through a dismal June in which he batted less than .100 with no home runs.  Regardless, with a $7 million salary in 2015 and a cheap buyout for 2016, there are some small market teams who would be willing to pay for a year of Murphy’s upside.  It’s worth noting that his defensive potential is far beyond what we’ve seen from him this year.  Cleveland might even get a mid-tier prospect in return.  If nothing else, they could probably get a player with some upside in the lower minors.  Besides, there won’t be a place for Murphy in the outfield if a certain player on the team changes positions…
