Indians Still Have Room for Improvement in Standings

After last night’s 5-1 loss to the Astros, the Indians find themselves back in a familiar spot in the standings. Entering into today’s play, the Tribe sits firmly at 7 games behind in the AL Central and 5 games back in the AL Wild Card standings. With 35 games left to go, if they plan on making that playoffs, the Indians will need to go on a run and soon. The Mariners defeated the Red Sox on Friday night, 5-3, behind another strong outing from Felix Hernandez. Austin Jackson, Dustin Ackley, and Robinson Cano all had runs batted in as Seattle claimed sole possession of the second AL Wild Card spot. Meanwhile…

The cluster of AL East remain in the hunt for a wild card spot. The Yankees and Rays both won on Friday night and remain 3.5 and 6.5 games back of the second spot respectively. As for the Blue Jays, their loss to the aforementioned Rays, their 7th in the last 10 games, was an 8-0 blow out in which rookie Marcus Stroman once again struggled.
