More from Cleveland Guardians Prospects

James Ramsey was acquired from the St. Louis Cardinals for Justin Masterson on July 3oth.

He spent the season playing for the Cardinals Double-A affiliate Springfield but was assigned to the Indians Triple-A affiliate Columbus Clippers.

Whether it was the challenge of a new league or trying to hard to make an impression on his new teammates he started off slowly hitting just .095 (2 for 21).

Entering the Clippers game against the Lehigh Valley IronPigs he had turned a corner batting a robust .360 (9 for 25) over his last seven games including three multi-hit games.

On Thursday night his hot bat helped carry Kyle Davies and the Clippers (68-58) to a 7-4 victory as he went 5-for-5 including a single, two doubles, and his second Clippers homer (#15 overall).

Ramsey’s homer was one of three hit by the Clippers on the night. Giovanny Urshela hit his 11th homer with the Clippers (#15 on the year) and Matt Carson who missed has missed much of the season hit his ninth.

Kyle Davies went six innings allowing four runs (three earned) on seven hits striking out four and walking three. Bryan Price worked two scoreless innings and Mark Lowe worked a scoreless ninth to pick up his 17th save on the season.

Michael Bourn was 0-for-4 with two strikeouts in what is believed to be his last minor league rehab appearance prior to returning to the Indians Friday night against the Baltimore Orioles.
