Cleveland Indians Prospect Francisco Lindor to Make AAA Debut

Cleveland Indians fans might have been hoping top prospect SS Francisco Lindor was going to skip AAA Columbus completely on his path to the major leagues, but Lindor was promoted to the Clippers last night by the Indians, and will bat second in “Da Clip Show’s” lineup tonight:

August Fagerstrom, the Akron Rubberducks beat writer for The Akron Beacon Journal, noted that Lindor was promoted almost a year to the date of his promotion to AA. Fagerstrom also quotes some high praise for Lindor from Akron manager Dave Wallace:

“He’s the best 20-year-old I’ve ever watched play,” Wallace said. “And its more than just physical play and adjustments. It’s the mental side of it. The focus, the preparation, all of that. He excels at all that and that’s why he’s put himself in such a good position.”

In a corresponding move, SS Erik Gonzalez was promoted to AA Akron to replace Lindor. Incumbent Indians SS Asdrubal Cabrera left last night’s loss with lower back spasms, and as of publishing there hasn’t been any update on Cabrera’s condition, but the Indians told The Plain Dealer beat writer Paul Hoynes the Lindor promotion had been planned ahead of time and Cabrera’s injury was a coincidence:
