Indians' Top Prospect Lindor Injured

Francisco Lindor, who was just voted to represent the Cleveland Indians at his third straight Futures Game, was removed from Wednesday afternoon’s Akron Rubberducks game against the Erie SeaWolves after taking a ground ball off of the face in the top of the 3rd inning at Canal Park in Akron. Lindor was able to walk off of the field under his own power.

The timing for Lindor is difficult due to the joy he expressed due to his Futures Game roster spot on Tuesday, as well as how hot he had been at the plate. Over the last seven games, Lindor had gone 10-for-28 (.357) with two doubles, one triple, two home runs, and six RBI, including his double in the 1st inning of Wednesday’s game.

Lindor will be undergoing x-rays today to see what damage was done by the sharply hit ball off the bat of Tigers second base prospect Devon Travis. While it may hold him out of action if there is significant damage, many will rest easy knowing that it wasn’t a knee or elbow ligament, which may have cost Lindor parts of the 2015 season.
