Jonathan Mayo talked to Indians Farm Director Ross Atkins about the rebound season thus far from Trevor Bauer:
“I can tell you I haven’t met many pitchers that are as passionate about delivery mechanics, about pitching philosophically and mechanically, as Trevor. It’s been great for us to learn with and from him about him and about pitching. He has incredible toughts about pitching.” – READ MORE HERE
Jordan Gorosh of Baseball Prospectus ($$ Required/Recommended) wrote up a piece on Clint Frazier as part of the sites Monday Morning Ten Pack. Gorosh spoke highly of Frazier but did bring up one area of development that may hold Frazier back.
He has a tendency to slightly open his hips at landing, which costs him all of his ability to go to right field/right-center field with any authority. Pitchers have been trying to exploit that weakness with spin on the outer half of the plate, and succeeded in my viewing. Frazier tracks the spin well, and isn’t fooled, but with this small mechanical flaw he can’t barrel balls on the outer third. If he can fix the hip leak and start driving balls the other way with authority, look out; the ceiling is an all-star. –Jordan Gorosh Baseball Prospectus ($ Required Here)
