 What is the Market for Bartolo Colon?

Earlier on Friday, Nick Houghtaling posted a profile on free agent pitcher Bartolo Colon. In the article, Nick lays out the scenario in which Colon returns to the Indians and why it might actually be a good idea. A one year deal somewhere in the range of $8-$10-million would be ideal as it provides Colon with a solid payday while also protecting the Indians in the event that 2014 is the year when Colon finally breaks down.

ESPN’s senior baseball writer, Buster Olney explains in his latest video blog that the market for Colon has actually cooled considerably. His age, combined with his recent PED history has scared off many teams. Colon and his agent are looking for a two-year deal, but just like Nick presented, a one year deal seems most likely. However, Olney makes no mention of the Indians as a potential suitor for his services. Instead, Olney predicts that Colon will sign with a big market team for $10-$12-million.
