This Week In Indians Baseball: Week 27

The Indians wrapped up the 2012 season with a series against the Chicago White Sox, dropping two of three games.

• Game 160: White Sox 11, Indians 0

W: Hector Santiago, L: Corey Kluber

The White Sox rode an explosion of runs to victory on Monday night. Though the game was scoreless through five innings, Chicago broke out with four runs in the sixth. The Indians were unable to score a run with only two hits on the night. Shin-Soo Choo and Cord Phelps had the hits. Kluber started for the Tribe, going 5.2 innings while allowing four runs on five hits and two walks with six strikeouts. Joe Smith pitched an inning of scoreless relief. Cody Allen, Esmil Rogers and Scott Maine pitched the final two innings, allowing six runs total. (full recap here)

Game 161: Indians 4, White Sox 3

W: Chris Seddon, L: Matt Thornton

It took 12 innings, but the Indians were victorious on Tuesday night. Travis Hafner tied the game in the bottom of the ninth with a game-tying two run home run to send the game into extras. In the bottom of the twelfth and two runners on base, Jason Donald delivered the game winning single to bring home Lonnie Chisenhall. Shin-Soo Choo also had an RBI during the game. Justin Masterson provided six innings in his final start of the season. He allowed just one run on four hits and one walk with five strikeouts. Joe Smith and Vinnie Pestano followed up with two innings of scoreless relief. Chris Perez allowed two runs on two hits and one walk. Scott Barnes, Esmil Rogers and Chris Seddon finished the game with three innings of scoreless relief. (full recap here)

• Game 162: White Sox 9, Indians 0

W: Gavin Floyd, L: David Huff

The season ended on a low note for the Tribe on Wednesday. The White Sox routed the Indians to a loss with another strong offensive showing. For the second time in the series, the Indians were unable to bring home a run. Jason Kipnis had two of the Indians’ five hits, one of which was a double. Huff made the start, going 4.2 innings while surrendering seven runs (three earned) on nine hits and two walks with two strikeouts. Tony Sipp, Chris Seddon and Frank Hermann combined for 3.1 innings of scoreless relief. Vinnie Pestano allowed two solo home runs, while recording two outs. Cody Allen recorded the final out for the Tribe. (full recap here)
