This Week In Indians Baseball: Week 26

The Indians aimed to end the season on the right foot in the last full week of the season. First, they wrapped up the road schedule by taking two of three from the Chicago White Sox. Then the Tribe came home and took two of three from the Kansas City Royals. Overall, the Indians went 4-2 in the 26^th week of the season.

• Game 154: White Sox 5, Indians 4

W: Brett Myers, L: Vinnie Pestano

Two Adam Dunn homers sunk the Tribe on Monday evening. Shin-Soo Choo and Asdrubal Cabrera each had an RBI double. Russ Canzler had a two-run home run in the sixth. Zach McAllister had a solid start, going six innings while allowing two runs on four hits and two walks with seven strikeouts. (full recap here)

Game 155: Indians 4, White Sox 3

W: Corey Kluber, L: Francisco Liriano

The White Sox had three home runs on Tuesday, but the Indians came away with the win. The Indians capitalized on a bad throw from Gordon Beckham, who failed to turn a double play in the fourth, in a three-run inning for the Tribe. Shin-Soo Choo, Russ Canzler, Thomas Neal and Ezequiel Carerra each collected an RBI. Klber gave the Tribe seven innings of solid pitching, allowing two runs on four hit and three walks with four strikeouts. (full recap here)

• Game 156: Indians 6, White Sox 4

W: Tony Sipp, L: Matt Thornton

The Indians played spoilers on Wednesday, handing the White Sox a loss in their pursuit of a postseason spot. The Indians walked 12 times on the night. Shin-Soo Choo, Carlos Santana and Russ Canzler helped the Tribe with an RBI apiece. Jason Kipnis had two. Vinny Rotino blasted a home run in the eighth inning. Justin Masterson started the game with 4.2 innings, allowing four runs on seven hits and four walks with two strikeouts. Frank Hermann, Tony Sipp, Joe Smith and Esmil Rogers combined for 3.1 innings of scoreless relief. Chris Perez came on in the ninth to record the save. (full recap here)

• Game 157: Indians 8, Royals 5

W: David Huff, L: Will Smith

Sandy Alomar Jr. made his managerial debut on Friday night, winning his first game at the helm. The offense provided a unified front, with support coming from the majority of the lineup. Jason Kipnis led the way with three RBI. Shin-Soo Choo had two and Cord Phelps, Lonnie Chisenhall and Ezequiel Carerra each had one. Huff had a solid six-inning start, allowing three runs on eight hits with no walks and five strikeouts. Cody Allen came on for an inning of hitless relief. Scott Maine allowed two runs on three hits without recording at out. Joe Smith had an inning of hitless relief. Chris Perez earned hit 39^th save. (full recap here)

Game 158: Royals 7, Indians 6

W: Vin Mazzaro, L: Scott Maine

It took 14 innings, but the Royals were able to sink the Tribe on Saturday night. Though the Tribe got things rolling early with a Lonnie Chisenhall RBI double to score Jason Kipnis, starter Jeanmar Gomez imploded in a six-run third for the Royals. The Indians chipped away at the lead. In the eighth inning, Shin-Soo Choo brought home two runs on a single. Asdrubal Cabrera tied the game in the ninth on a two-run double. Despite many chances, the Tribe was unable to bring the winning run home. Over the course of the game, the Indians left 20 men on base. The bullpen provided ten innings of scoreless relief before Maine allowed the winning run in the top of the fourteenth. (full recap here)

• Game 159: Indians 15, Royals 3

W: Zach McAllister, L: Luke Hochevar

The Indians exploded in a ten-run fifth inning to pave their way to victory. Leading the way at the plate was Asdrubal Cabrera who capped off the big inning with a grand slam. Shin-Soo Choo and Matt LaPorta each had two RBI. Jason Kipnis, Cord Phelps, Jack Hannahan, Casey Kotchman, Lou Marson and Jason Donald all joined the party as well with an RBI apiece. On the mound, Zach McAllister gave the Tribe 6.2 strong innings. He allowed three runs on five hits and two walks with two strikeouts. Tony Sipp and Frank Hermann provided 2.1 innings of scoreless relief.
