The Minnesota Twins took two games from the Tribe early in the week, but the Indians bounced back to win the series finale. The Kansas City Royals also took two games from the Indians to open the three-game set, but the Indians again rebounded to take the final game in a big way.

  • Game 148: Twins 6, Indians 5

W: Tyler Robertson, L: Scott Maine

The Twins came out on top in the extra-inning affair on Tuesday. After a back-and-forth seesaw, the Twins scored two runs in the top of the twelfth inning. The Tribe came back in the bottom half of the inning with one run on a Carlos Santana home run, but it was too late. Shin-Soo Choo, Asdrubal Cabrera and Lonnie Chisenhall each contributed with an RBI apiece. David Huff was the first of ten pitchers to appear in the game for the Tribe. Game 149: Twins 6, Indians 4

W: Liam Hendriks, L: Zach McAllister

Josh Willingham wreaked havoc on the Tribe Wednesday evening, with four RBI. Asdrubal Cabrera had a homer in the first inning to open up the scoring. After the Twins scored two in the top of the third, the Indians added a run on a Jason Kipnis single, scoring Vinny Rottino. The Twins added four runs in the fifth and sixth innings. Kipnis and Michael Brantley added the final two runs in the eight on a pair of singles. McAllister started, lasting 4.1 innings and allowing four runs on eight hits and two walks with three strikeouts. (full recap here)

  • Game 150: Indians 4, Twins 3

W: Esmil Rogers, L: Anthony Swarzak

For the second time in the series, the Twins and Indians went into extra innings, but this time, the Tribe was victorious. Casey Kotchman led the charge to victory with three hits, but it was his final hit of the afternoon proved to be the biggest. With the bases loaded in the bottom of the tenth, Kotchman singled to bring home Shin-Soo Choo for the winning run. Kotchman had two total RBI on the afternoon. Brent Lillibridge and Jack Hannahan each contributed with an RBI. Corey Kluber gave the Indians a strong start, going six innings while allowing three runs to score on five hits and one walk with five strikeouts. Cody Allen, Vinnie Pestano, Chris Perez and Esmil Rogers provided four innings of scoreless relief. (full recap here)

  • Game 151: Royals 6, Indians 3

W: Luis Mendoza, L: Justin Masterson

The Tribe attempted to play catch-up all evening, but the Royals managed to stay a step in front for the entire game. Carlos Santana had a big day at the plate with two RBI. Michael Brantley also had an RBI. Masterson got the start, lasting six innings while allowing four runs on seven hits and two walks with three strikeouts. (full recap here)

Game 152: Royals 5, Indians 3

W: Will Smith, L: Ubaldo Jimenez

Cord Phelps tied the game 2-2 in the top of the fifth with a homer, but the Royals responded with three runs in the bottom half of the inning, giving them the decisive edge. Jimenez struggled, allowing five runs on seven hits and three walks with three strikeouts over 4.1 innings. (full recap here)

  • Game 153: Indians 15, Royals 4

W: David Huff, L: Jake Odorizzi

The Indians exploded in the final four innings of Sunday’s contest with the Royals. The spark for the Indians came in the top half of the sixth, when Jason Kipnis tripled with one out. Carlos Santana provided ample run support with two home runs. Asdrubal Cabrera and Ezequiel Carerra each had two RBI to help bolster the offense. Huff gave a solid start, allowing only one run on three hits and one walk with one strikeout over 5.2 innings.

  • On Tuesday, the Indians shut down reliever Rafael Perez for the remainder of the season.
  • Jason Kipnis received the 2012 Roberto Clemente Award nomination for the Indians.
  • Travis Hafner returned to the lineup on Wednesday after a stint on the 15-day disabled list.

  • With the win on Sunday, the Indians have won four consecutive series finales, which is a season-high. The most recent time that the Tribe has been able to string together such a streak was in August of 2009.
  • The Tribe is currently in the midst of their final road trip of the season. The Indians will head to Chicago to face the White Sox this week for their final games on the road this season.

Santana had a monster week for the Indians. He played a major role in the Indians’ 15-4 victory over the Royals with two homers. Over the week, he had a total of eight RBI, while launching three home runs. He walked four times.
