Indians Will Honor Feller on Opening Day and All Season

The recent death of Bob Feller was one that hit the Indians organization, and its fans hard. Those who are old enough to remember Feller, and those who are not were all impacted by his greatness.

He finished his career, all with the Tribe, with 266 wins which is a club record. He also threw the only opening day no-hitter in the MLB. His legend spanned beyond baseball. This is apparent from his service in World War II, which made him a true American hero.

The 92 year old Feller remained a fan of the team until his passing. Due to his lifelong love of the team, the Indians are giving back. It starts on opening day. The team will show a tribute video highlighting the career of the late Bob Feller.

The first pitch will be thrown by Anne Feller, the widow of Bob Feller. This will be a silent pitch, and it should be a very emotional moment for everyone in attendance. The players on the Indians will all have #19 jerseys on for the introductions and their normal jerseys will feature a patch with #19 on it.

For those who are interested, there will be a public memorial service for Feller on March 31st. It will be at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Cleveland Heights at 11am. Due to limited space, it will also be shown on STO.
